Are energy expertise mandatory??

Energy expertise CECB is requested in the canton of Friborg and Vaud during a real estate transaction or a building renovation. In the other cantons, it is not mandatory, but strongly recommended.

Energy expertise CECB PLUS is required when the amount of the grant request exceeds 10’000 CHF for the canton of Friborg, Neuchâtel, Geneva and Valais.

Condition to respect

Renovation work can only begin after receipt of the decision on the grant application.

Documents to provide us

  • The architectural plans of the building, especially the ratings. In case of absence of plans, an added value is charged.
  • Other documents if available : energy proof produced for the building permit application and existing CECB.

The Buildings Program

The Buildings Program is financed jointly by the confederation and the cantons, the aim being to improve the energy efficiency of the Swiss building stock.

Since 2017, the building program is entirely managed by the cantons. They have defined a common model for allocating subsidies while each adapting it to their energy policy.

Homeowners can apply for financial aid for the following cases:

  • Subsidies for buildings that received their building permit before the year 2000, with the intention of improving their thermal envelope and replacing their environmentally unfriendly heating system with a renewable system, or connection to a district heating system.
  • Subsidies for new buildings, with the aim of providing them with overall energy performance superior to legal requirements.
  • Subsidies for the creation of a new district heating network (CAD), or CAD expansion established to serve existing buildings.
